Chattahoochee NOW Hosts Denver’s Greenway Foundation

In October 2014, Chattahoochee NOW hosted Jeff Shoemaker, Executive Director of Denver’s Greenway Foundation. The evening event was sponsored by the Ray C. Anderson Foundation, King & Spalding, and the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Over 50 guests joined us for an evening of exploration and opportunity focused on the Chattahoochee River Corridor. Special thanks to speakers Mary Anne Lanier and Clay Courts, and board members Jodi Mansbach, Katharine Wilkinson, and Chet Tisdale for ensuring the evening’s success!

Jeff Shoemaker is the Executive Director of The Greenway Foundation – the non-profit organization that has been reclaiming Denver’s metro area waterways since 1974. In 1982, Jeff took over the directorship of The Greenway Foundation at the request of his father Joe, founder of the Foundation. Over the last 30 years, Jeff has overseen the creation of over $130 million of enhancements along Denver’s metro area waterways including the South Platte River, Cherry Creek, Bear Creek, and numerous other tributaries that have, in turn, created over $13 billion of economic development and benefit to the surrounding area. In the coming months, The Greenway Foundation, in partnership with numerous public and private partners, is currently overseeing the initiation of an additional $25 million of recreational and environmental improvements to Denver’s South Platte River and nearby tributaries.
